On Wednesday evening, the Canton Bulldogs were back in action as they prepared for a tilt with the Mansfield Hornets. The Bulldogs came into the game hoping their offense could get a grip on the game and dominate in the offensive zone early. In the shot department they showed no signs of weakness, but yet again ran into another skilled goaltender that came to play. In the first period the Bulldogs spent time killing off penalties and it was a slow start for the offense. As the game went on the Bulldogs generated much more offense than the Hornets with shots and scoring chances. One of the most negative factors in the game for the Bulldogs was that they turned the puck over multiple times, especially when trying to gain the neutral zone. The game was a battle of toughness as both sides threw bodies at their opponent looking the extra effort to break the scoreless tie. The third period started and the Bulldogs were starting to gain momentum shift after shift when finally Eamon Kelly broke the tie off a shot ripped from the slot after some great forechecking by Jeff Chaput and Donny McNeice. That goal was the difference maker as Joe Cammarata held strong between the pipes for his second shutout in two games. Shane Marshall got on the score sheet once again as he added the dagger with an empty net in the last minute for his fourth goal of the season. The Canton Bulldogs improved to 6-0-2 on the season and will play their next game at home after the 3 game road trip.
